Kim 9 weeks and 2 days...

2001-11-14

I have just now recovered from this mornings adventures. These stubborn hunting dogs that come after me and my dogs instead of the pray really pisses me off!!! The Dachsbracke that attacked us today was a male, that caused him and Tintin to get into a nasty fight. When I shouted at them I managed to brake them apart, but then the Dachsbracke discovered Nikki instead, who is in the beginning of her heat. Poor little Nikki, she is so afraid of other dogs when they get so close and are so far from well-mannered. She howled loudly, Tintin wanted to defend her, and Kim that was in my arms got a real chock...

After a while of complete chaos, I managed to put the Poodles up on a pile of wood, the Dachsbracke was too clumsy to follow them there. With Kim in my arms I tried to get the dog to leave, but ofcourse that failed. Finally I put Kim on the pile of wood too, and then I managed to get a hold of the hunting dog and tied him to a tree with Tintins leash... Then we could head for home in peace and quiet. Poor Kim, he shook all over after this incident. I am just happy the bloody dog didn't go after him too. When we had walked for a while, I let Kim down so he could discover that danger was over, and he reacted pretty well.

Once I placed my dogs in safety at home behind a locked door, I took the bike up in the wood again to release the Dachsbracke. I am probably not allowed to tie up a working hunting dog like that, but what was there to do??? My dogs wellbeing is first and foremost for me, especially since Tintin has a soar back and damaged joints, Nikki in heat and Kim, who really doesn't need any scary dogmeetings, at his age. The stupid hunting dog actually followed me home. Right now he is standing outside the door and howles, I have had to put all three of my dogs into the computer-room and I have a fulltime job keeping them calm.... Sigh!!! Well, Kim is calm as long as he can lie safely on my lap. We'll see how he reacts on the next walk this afternoon...

Greetings from a soon to be deaf Karin!
